16 August. Annual turn out at Kinder Farms Park in the River Birch Pavilion. Note the new Location. Logistics will be a little different.
Please RSVP for turnout with number of guests to Robert Warren at icepick01@msn.com
We’re just a month away from our annual turnout and picnic at Kinder Farm Park. This year the event is planned for August 16 at the River Birch Pavilion. It’s the last pavilion on the left in the park and is adjacent to the disc golf course. We have 17 eight foot picnic tables, two grills, electricity and potable water on site. Lots of shade and a horse shoe pit. We plan to have a porta potty on site as well.
Tim Moore will be hosting the annual CW Raffle of well loved tools and such that may be excess in your shop. Please bring what you have to raffle and follow Tim’s instruction. Bring cash for the raffle tickets. All funds collected will go directly into our treasury.
Please bring something for “show and tell”. This is always a highlight of our gatherings. This year’s club challenge is something turned from plywood. Please give it a try. You will be amazed at the creative things that our group will come up with.
I have volunteers for the grills and to cook the corn. I still need a team to dress the tables and supervise the placement of the food and paper goods for the buffet. Mary has volunteered but she will need lots of help.
I still need someone to bring an extra grill. The two provided by the park are not sufficient. An additional 20 inch grill will get us through.
Please bring a side dish, a desert, soda/water (enough to feed 6-8).
If your name begins with:
A-H: bring dessert
I-Q: bring soda/water
R-Z: bring a side dish
If you plan to attend, please RSVP by reply to Robert Warren at icepick01@msn.com

Our woodturners have been busy!
First on 7 December, a cold, starry night, the Woodturning Co-Op collaborated with the Chesapeake Woodturners at Maryland Hall for a benefit charity fundraiser. The charity, Bernie’s House, was the recipient of over $4,100. Patricia Slaughter gladly accepted the donation. The funds will go toward ensuring abused families receive a fresh start and a safe place to raise their children free from abusers. The fundraiser was attended by concert goers who enjoyed the holiday tunes by the Encore Singers. The next sale will be 11 December at the Annapolis Yacht Club. Stay tuned!
This event follows a fundraiser last May in support of the Light House Shelter, a local charity that helps families in crisis. Both events were organized by Jim Brooks, a member of the Woodturning Co-Op. That fundraiser raised $8,600 over two days for the Light House. Jim is currently working with Maryland Hall for the next event in the Spring.
7 December 2024. Jerry Levisee and friend Charlotte at Maryland Hall raising money for the Bernie House.
11 December Tim Moore at the Annapolis Yacht Club
Secondly the Annapolis Yacht Club invited the Chesapeake Woodturners to participate in their Holiday Market on 11 December.
Though the skies were blustery, the event was well attended. Woodturners participating were: Tim, Neal, and Lenny.
Their creations netted about $1K back in their pockets! Happy New!
